Exciting IPL action today

With all this uncertainty surrounding the Indonesian Super League, the second tier Premier League carries on regardless far from the glare of publicity and today throws up some mouthwatering fixtures.

In the Western Division it’s third hosting second as Persikabo take on Persisam in Cibinong. Persisam are the team of all starts featuring well known players like Ilham Jayakasuma, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto and Patricio Jiminez.

The side from Samarinda sit second just three points behind leaders PSP with a game in hand. Victory today could see them top of the league on goal difference.

Persikabo have ambitions of their own and in Mardiansyah the IPL’s leading scorer. But they have played more games than the sides above and currently six points behind PSP. Victory today is crucial if they are to reach the play offs for the ISL.

Another top of the table clash sees fourth against fifth when Persikab host Mitra Kukar at Jalak Harupat Stadium while leaders PSPS host 11th placed PSAP in Pekanbaru.

Fireworks are guaranteed in the Eastern Division with a slew of tasty derbies taking place today and none hotter than Persema v Persebaya in Malang. First against second with both sides having 43 points from their 19 games. The Surabaya side have gone off the boil recently but nothing that three points today wouldn’t put right.

They may be in the bottom four but royal pride will be at stake in the Kraton Derby between PSIM and Persis in Yogyakarta today. The two historic cities have been regal rivals for centuries and expect that to continue this afternoon. The other derby, also in Yogyakarta, sees Persiba Bantul host PSS.
